Two men sentenced to prison for crystal meth distribution
McAllen, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Two Mexican nationals have been sentenced to prison for distributing crystal meth in two separate cases.
Local law enforcement had conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Jose Cruz Deleon, 47, and Josue Gonzalez-Cardenas, 39, was a passenger in the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle, police discovered a box with two bundles of crystal methamphetamine. Gonzalez-Cardenas was the receiver of the drug and Cruz Deleon was to accompany Cardenas to another location for delivery of the drug to another associate.
Gonzalez-Cardenas pleaded guilty and was sentenced to over four years in prison.
In the second case, Arturo Cesar Rodriguez, 30, was stopped by law enforcement after he was observed receiving a box from another individual, which contained eight bricks of crystal meth, and then to deliver the drug to an unknown associate.
Rodriguez pleaded guilty and was sentenced to over 15 years in prison.
Rodriguez and Gonzalez-Cardenas will remain in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future.
