MCALLEN - McAllen Police nabbed two men they believe murdered a woman in a room at the Royal Inn Hotel.

Jose Antonio Flamenco, 27, and Marlon de Jesus Lazo Velasquez, 28, of Honduras are charged with the murder of Yvette Cardenas, 40.

Cardenas was found dead yesterday at the Royal Inn Hotel, on the 600-block of S. 10th Street, by house keeping.

Through surveillance video, police were able to track down two suspects.

Through confession, police said the men picked up the woman and she asked them to take her to the Royal Inn Hotel. From there the three went up to Cardenas's room.

Once inside the room the men said they all snorted cocaine.

But drug use was not the cause of Cardenas's death.

""The preliminary cause of her death that was given to us was strangulation. And she was also assaulted," said Sgt. Joel Morales Jr., McAllen Police PIO.

The suspect's statement shows a confession stating Flamenco punched Cardenas in the face and then Velasquez strangled her.

Both men's bond was set at $750,00 each.
