Two individuals arrested in attempt to smuggle 5 month-old child
PROGRESO, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — U.S. Custom officials intecepted a American citizen from attempting to cross a 5 month-old child into the U.S. without valid entry documents.
On Saturday, June 15, at the Progreso port of entry, a 17 year-old female, with an infant, approached agents for admission into the country as pedestrians.
Both were referred to a seconday inspection for review of the infants birth certificate, presented by the female, and it was determined that the documents were not valid.
Through their investigation agents also identified the driver of a grey Cadillac Escalade, in a parking lot adjacent to the port of entry, as the alleged smuggler of the infant.
Both the female and the driver were arrested for violations of immigrantion law and the infant was returned to his parents in Mexico.
