Two charged, third suspect awaits arraignment in aggravated robbery case

Pharr police have charged two men with aggravated robbery which occurred on Monday morning.

On Tuesday, May 13th David Herrera, 22, from San Juan, and Jesus Castillo, 26, from Pharr, were charged with aggravated robbery and engaging in organized criminal activity for their involvement in the robbery of another man on May 12th.

On Monday, May 12th, a man reported to police that he had been robbed of his money and valuables after waving down a black Chevy Impala and asking for a ride on the 1500 block of W. Military 281.

The victim stated that three men were in the vehicle with one occupant displaying a handgun and demanded the victim's money and valuables. The victim ran into a store to report the crime with the Impala fleeing the area.

A short time later Border Patrol agents advised police that the Impala was found in a ditch and that three men were taken into custody.

Herrera and Castillo were handed a $1 million dollar bond each and the third suspect involved will be arraigned at a later date. Investigators are looking into the possibility of the three men also being involved in a robbery in McAllen and in Cameron County.
