Texas State Technical College students are bowling for charity, but instead of a bowling ball they are using a frozen turkey.

It's called turkey bowling and it is becoming a tradition at the college this time of year.

Instead of using a regular pins they use soda bottles and a strike will get you a chance at winning a free turkey for Thanksgiving.

Students pay 25 cents a ticket to get a chance to bowl.

Those involved said this holiday sport grows every year.

"Students love service but they love service even more if they can have fun doing it. So this was Student Government's way of just having a great event, a fun time, and we get to give back to our own students," said Adele Clinton, TSTC Student Life Director.

All the proceeds go to the school's Toys for Tots program.

Student Government is hoping to raise more than $100.00 which will allow them to buy at least ten toys.
