MCALLEN- August is beginning where July left off, temperatures are way above normal and even for mid-summer.
Hot and humid is what people living in the Upper Valley are experiencing. Some are avoiding the smoldering sun by taking keeping shade under an umbrella or wearing a hat and a lot of people were seen wearing shorts in downtown McAllen.
The hottest month of the year in the state started Monday and forecasters say this month won't disappoint. The first excessive heat warning of the summer was issued Sunday and with highs forecasted this week it could be the hottest week of the year.
Thursday's highs are expected to be in the hundreds and Friday triple digits as well on Saturday.
" Oh its terrible, its like we're sweating throughout the whole time we're out here," expressed Thelma Ayala.
The National Weather Service issued heat advisories for 15 states including the lone star state. A woman says she's keeping cool by staying in doors and drinking plenty of water.
"It's really hot, and the heat is insupportable," said Maria Hernandez.
And no relief from the blazing heat is coming our way anytime soon.
