LOS FRESNOS - A brush fire that caused a transformer to catch fire left the City of Los Fresnos without power for over four hours on Wednesday evening.

The fire was located at 1847 and Henderson road just north of the high school. Firefighters arrived on scene and it took about twenty to thirty minutes to extinguish the flames which caused the power lines to melt and drop to the ground. Los Fresnos firefighter Jarrett Sheldon said, "With the high winds and the dry palm trees, the ambers kind of flew over here and caught this section on fire, causing these power lines to get explosive and caused the power lines to go down and made it kind of a dangerous fire for the firefighters to fight."
