A train derailment has caused the immediate closure of Canton Road from McColl to Jackson.

Three cars carrying corn derailed spilling its content all over the roadway with one car on Canton Road. The train is owned by Rio Valley Switching Company.

Drivers are asked to seek alternate routes as it will take a few days to clear the corn and upright the cars.

Fire Chief Shawn Snider says the corn is non- hazardous and non-threatening to the community.

No one was hurt in the incident.
