Traffic stop leads to driver being arrested for possession of marijuana

One driver, caught tossing a candy wrapper ends up being arrested for possession of marijuana.

On Tuesday, July 22nd at around 8 p.m. a Harlingen officer observed the driver of a Toyota Camry, traveling west on Harrison Avenue, toss a candy wrapper out of the window.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the, driver identified as Tanya Marie Villegas, 19, and noticed a strong of marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle.

Villegas gave consent to the officer to search the vehicle where he located a pink purse containing two plastic baggies of marijuana. Villegas was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and given a bond of $2,000.
