A Japanese news service is reporting that Toyota is recalling its best selling Prius Hybrid due to concerns about brake problems. Toyota denies any recall for now, Tracie Potts is in Washington with the latest.
Japan's Nikkei news service reports the world's number one selling hybrid is being recalled, but Toyota USA says no decision's have been made. 270,000 Prius models made before this year may have brake problems, something Toyota knew about and fixed in more recent models. More than 180 Prius drivers have complained the brakes don't respond momentarily when the hybrid is switching between its gas and electric systems.
The company reported a $1.7 billion dollar profit last quarter, but now expects to suffer $2 billion in repairs and lost sales over the gas pedal.

This recall has a big effect on the image of the Toyota cars. This Prius having problems with its gas pedals is not a simple problem. The safety of the users is at stake here.
