Tornado Toll Tops
Number killed by Wednesday's storms expected to climb.
Flying into Tuscaloosa, Alabama this morning President Obama could see the half-mile wide path Wednesday's tornado took and the devastation it left in its wake.
It was just one of more than 170 tornados that struck Wednesday.
After calling the loss of at least 318 lives "heartbreaking" the president met with Alabama Governor Bob Bentley.
He again promised the federal government would do everything it could to assist in the recovery.
The president saw some of worst in Tuscaloosa, where some three dozen people lost their lives and hundreds of homes and businesses were destroyed.
For a second day, they'll conduct more searches in the massive piles of rubble for either survivors or more victims.
For thousands across the South recovery means starting over, because there's nothing left.
