Tomato prices on the rise nationally

Thursday, January 31, 2013 - 10:17am
Tomato prices are on the rise, nationally, as this week the price per pound is at $1.40 which is a .15 cent increase from last week. The USDA reports that prices have risen close to .40 cents from last year and according to the Texas Produce Association prices have increased because of concerns about whether the U.S.. has enough tomato crop for this year. Another factor in the increase may be a legal dispute between Mexico and the U.S.. about prices.
