Toddler Near Drowning Recovery
A 2-year-old toddler who had no vital signs for almost 40 minutes after falling into a pool is recovering in an Arizona hospital
Caleb Teodorescu doesn't look bad for a boy who nearly drowned last week.
He was playing in the kitchen with his sisters and brother when he slipped out through the patio door of his home in Glendale, Arizona.
His brother found him in the deep end of the pool with s scooter.
"At that time you just think jump in the pool and get him out," said Mihaela Teodorescu, Caleb's mother.
Neighbors a block away heard Mihaela's screams and came to help.
From the time they got Caleb out of the pool and into the ambulance on the way to the hospital, he had no pulse.
Caleb did have a pulse once he arrived at the hospital but doctors needed to keep a steady flow of blood to Caleb's brain.
Doctors said that after a week, he started to act like a normal child again.
Now when Caleb isn't tackling doctors, he has plenty of toys to play with and get well cards to learn to read thanks to friends and family in the Romanian community and his church.
"I've never seen so many toys in my life in one place," said Mihaela Teodorescu. "We just want to thank everybody for surrounding us with their support and love."
