In Brownsville, you now have a place to throw away unwanted tires that may be lying around.

In an effort to keep the city clean, Keep Brownsville Beautiful is sponsoring a tire day this Saturday from 10 AM until 3 PM. During that time, residents may drop off the maximum of four used tires per household. Mayor Ahumada says expanding recycling in the city is a must. A tire recycling center is also in the works to be opened, but the city still needs a location for the center.

Mayor Ahumada believes the city commission will be more than willing to come to a consensus for such a location. In the meantime, this weekend's drop off sites are Gonzalez Park on Tony Gonzalez road and Oliveira Park located on El Paso road. For more information call 956-548-6000.
