PENITAS - An anonymous tip leads police to the largest cocaine seizure they've seen in over a year after a tip came in about a tractor trailer transporting drugs.

Police pulled the truck over for a traffic violation and searched the vehicle, with the help of a K-9 unit, and found more than 52 pounds of cocaine. Penitas Police Chief Roel Bermea stated, "It's a significant amount, I mean you hardly don't see or hardly ever see it, other than ports of entries or check points. So it is a significant amount, it was a big bust for us."

The driver, a passenger and the truck were all turned over to the DEA and the investigation will continue into the crime. The police department always welcomes any tips from the public on criminal activity and they can be contacted at 956.583.0050.
