Prepare for traffic jams this Thanksgiving Holiday as millions of people are expected to drive to see loved ones instead of flying, Joangel Concepcion has more.

Forty two million people are expected to travel this Thanksgiving and according to AAA that's an 11% increase from last year. Experts say that the majority of travelers are choosing to drive instead of flying which means people are more than likely to be stuck in traffic jams.

Even though Thanksgiving is considered an American tradition, U.S. Customs expects major delays coming in and out of Mexico as well. Last year, there were over a thousand serious injuries and 39  deaths during the holiday. Because of the expected holiday rush, the Texas Department of Transportation has a few tips for motorist before heading out:

1) Be courteous to other drivers, the road will be crowded and this may lead to aggressive driving.

2) Make sure you check the weather before your departure, this may affect your travel time.

3) Be patient.
