First THINK electric car rolls of Indiana assembly line.

The State of Indiana is plugging in to a new venture.

Fully-electric cars are rolling off the assembly line in Elkhart, and Indiana's Department of Natural Resources is taking full advantage.

Soon a handful of all electric vehicles will be all over Indiana's state parks.

Thursday electric car maker THINK North America donated 15 cars to the Indiana Department of Administration.

The cars will be used by the Department of Natural Resources at a number of state parks.

These are the first 15 cars ever to be delivered by THINK.

The Norway based company plans to sell nearly 300 more soon and hire hundreds more in the coming years.

"We've been the band instrument capital of the world, RV capital of the world, could become the electric vehicle capital of the world," says Kyle Hannon from the Elkhart Chamber of Commerce.

The cars are all-electric, zero emissions, and one charge will last one hundred miles.

"They're all electric," says Manufacturing Director Karl Turner from THINK. "They are what we call pure hybrids, environmentally sound to ride around in."

The cars were donated to the State of Indiana through an energy fund developed with federal stimulus money and private donations.

The DNR says the quiet cars will be used to patrol camping areas and for short trips into town.
