Theft victim pings phone, police to arrest suspects

A woman's phone is stolen, her husband pings the phone which then leads police to arrest two people.

On Monday, April 28th at around 11:30 a.m. Harlingen police were dispatched to the Walmart store at 1801 W. Lincoln Avenue in regards to a theft.

A woman reported that she had left her shopping cart unattended and someone had stolen her purse and its contents, including her smart phone.

The woman's husband pinged her phone giving the officer the location of the device to the La Copa Inn on W. Tyler Avenue.

Officers were able to make contact with two people in a room at the hotel, identified as Belinda Valdez, 42, and Anselmo Miguel Hernandez, 42, who were in possession of the victim's purse and phone.

Valdez and Hernandez were both arrested and charged with theft and handed a $5,000 bond each.
