Sweltering summer temperatures settle in.
A brutal summer heat wave is tightening its grip across much of the country.

Forecasters say the heat will linger for at least another week.
"In reality what we have is a giant easy bake oven we are living in right now," says associate Oklahoma State Climatologist Gary McManus.
The East Coast is also feeling the heat.
In New York Central Park is sizzling.
The city plans to open 450 cooling centers.
