The Future of Flight
"Carter Copter" lifts off like a helicopter, flies like a plane.
Texas inventor and entrepreneur Jay Carter, Jr. has reached a milestone with his "personal air vehicle."
He's refined the autogyro portion of his aircraft, which will be able to fly as fast as a fixed-wing aircraft, but take off and lands vertically, like a helicopter.
Some say the "Carter Copter" could be the future of personal aviation.
Carter says his aircraft can be scaled up for the military use as well, and could carry up to 200 troops.
Current test flights are going well.
The next phase in testing will come when Carter and his team install the wings to allow high-speed flights.
