Groom foregos bachelor party to help build Habitat for Humanity house.

There was no live music and not a stripper in sight at Nick Baker's bachelor party.

The Palatka, Florida man told his groomsmen that he wanted to give back instead of having a "normal" bachelor party.

On Thursday the groom and five friends helped clear land around a Habitat for Humanity house, a different way of marking a right of passage before he marries his bride-to-be who he has known since preschool.

Getting married is about honoring Christ, said Baker, and so he wanted to make everything surrounding the wedding about his faith.

"The whole point of getting married is to put yourself in a better position to be able to honor him with your life and with a teammate," explained Baker. "I wanted to do that with my groomsmen, too."

The men hauled rocks, cleared brush and vines, helped grade the yard and spread pine straw.

The Habitat House will be completed and dedicated next month, after which a family can move in.

Baker will tie the knot on Saturday.
