Texas Week Begins

The Island was jumping on Coca Cola beach Monday. It was absolutely packed for the first day of Texas spring break. The Island is expecting around 40,000 spring breakers. Police chief Randy Smith says they have several agencies assisting them including the Cameron County Constables and DPS.

"We have hired other agencies we have beefed our beach patrol standard patrol entertainment area we have extra jailers on, so basically our code enforcement everybody has beefed up."

The Island wants to remind folks there for everyone says safety there is no glass on the beach, You can see a fine of $500 dollars.

The chief adds to be careful with your personal belongings.

The chief says there have been no major incidents and they hope to keep in that way.

"Everybody has been have a great time and we are looking forward to a great spring break."
