Texas Transportation Commission approves Interstate 69 system
RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — The Texas Transportation Commission has announced the final approval for Interstate 69 system.
The Interstate 69 system will be 116 miles of freeway from South Texas and Northeast Texas which will include 13 miles in Hidalgo County and with the approval three Valley highways are now designated as interstates.
The 13 miles in Hidalgo County, which runs from US 281 in Pharr and Edinburg, will be signed as Interstate 69 Central.
For Cameron and Willacy County. US 77 will be signed as Interstate 69 East and 46 miles of the east/west US 83 from Harlingen to west of Mission will be designated as Interstate 2.
