Texas Senate bill to provide funding at border crossings
Texas border officials today lauded Senate appropriators for authorizing a new mechanism to fund infrastructure, technology and personnel at U.S..-Mexico border crossings
HR 933 would provide short-term relief to minimize or eliminate anticipated furloughs by providing short-term funding for no fewer than 21,775 CBP officers.
For the long-term, the bill's provisions would authorize alternative funding for land ports of entry infrastructure, technology and personnel.
According Custom and Border Protection the sequestration led to a 25-40 percent reduction in number of booths staffed by Custom inspectors because of the reduction of overtime hours.
