Nationwide, 18 people a day die waiting for an organ and here in the Valley only 19 families consented to donating their families organs last year.

More than 4,000 people are waiting for organs in south and central Texas and most of those need kidneys. Because the need is so much larger than the demand, the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance gathered on Friday to honor those whose families gave the gift of life in a special ceremony. One donor alone can help save the lives of eight people and if you would like to learn more about becoming a donor visit: http://www.txorgansharing.org/
