"Force Options" real-life simulator makes its way into the Valley

MISSION- Local authorities have seen it all but a little extra training can always go a long way. That's why the Texas Municipal Police Association is introducing force options through out the state and now its made its way into the valley. The high-tech computerized firearm program has over 100 different scenarios. Preparing officers for dangers that may lie in our streets.

"The more training you get the more quality you get so we try to make this as real as possible," said Curtis Wilson, TMPA. "It's designed to make the officer think in real time because we can change the scenarios as they unfold. Depending on what the officer does and doesn't do, say or doesn't say."

The scenarios are controlled by a computer. Officers use their every day tools to take down suspects. Just like being out on the streets, officers need to be ready for anything or the machine may even strike back. TMPA has trained several hundreds of officers through out the state and so far the program has been effective. The Association hopes to bring the simulator to even more cities in the valley.
