The Texas Lions Camp is celebrating its 65th anniversary by kicking off a bicycle ride for its members who will bike from Brownsville to Kerrville.

Bicyclists from the Texas Lions Camp rode around Brownsville before gathering at the Brownsville Events Center this morning.

The cyclists will travel about 340 miles before reaching Kerrville in ten days.

The Texas Lions Camp is designed for children with disabilities.

Along the ride, they will have vision screenings for children called Pediavision.

"We're ridin' this in an anniversary celebration to remind ourselves about our camp," said former Brownsville Downtown Lions Club director Ray Hughston. "We have entertained handicapped children there ever since, and continued to do so at no charge to them and their parents."

The bicyclists will travel to seven destinations along the route before reaching their final destination.
