Texas Folklife accordion contest to be held in the Valley

Texas Folklife's Big Squeeze Accordion Contest will be searching for talent in the Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, March 30th.

It's the seventh annual Big Squeeze contest for up and coming Texas musicians 21 years of age or younger at the Los Fresnos high school.

Former champions Peter Anzaldua and Juan Longoria, Jr. will be performing at the event. Both Anzaldua and Longoria are Brownsville natives.

The auditions are free and open to the public and contestants can register at the event or in advance by calling 1.512.441.9255 or online at www.texasfolklife.org.

Those who cannot attend the audition may mail or e-mail their entries to arrive at Texas Folklife no later than April 1, 2013. The complete contest rules and entry forms are available online or by calling Texas Folklife.
