Texas Department of Agriculture Confirms the State's First Citrus Greening Outbreak

SAN JUAN - It's considered the most deadly and serious citrus disease worldwide, and just days ago, five trees were confirmed to be infected with citrus greening in San Juan.

"Citrus greening is a disease caused by a bacteria, so it's a tiny, microscopic organism. and that microscopic organism is moved, or transmitted by these small insects called phyllids," said Dr. Juan Anciso, Texas Agrilife Fruit and Vegetable Expert.
