McALLEN - Federal, state and local agencies united on Tuesday for a statewide event in McAllen.

The McAllen Convention Center hosted the 23rd Annual Texas Crime Stoppers Conference showing the latest tools of the trade in fighting crime. Several workshops were set up to educate and train individuals on utilizing Crime Stoppers in the area using social media for better communication and becoming more familiar with police duties. It was also to strengthen partnerships amongst the agencies. DPS State Trooper Johnny Hernandez stated, "We know we can back each other up. We know they are our brother and they know that they are going to be there for us and they know we're going to be there for them. Unity works long ways."

For the last few years, the Palmview Police Department has led the way with the most awards in several different categories.
