The Texas Border Coalition issued a statement on the passage of bill (HR 933) which authorizes funding for port of entries in the Valley.

HR 933 allows alternative funding to pay for infrastructure, technology and personnel at U.S. - Mexico border crossings.

The Texas Border Coalition stated, “Senate passage of this legislation brings us one step closer to addressing the extreme need for more investment in infrastructure, personnel and technology at our southwestern border crossings.

“The measure is a strong vote of confidence in the value of voluntary public-private partnerships as a critical tool for solving not only our most critical border security challenges, but will also help speed inspections, improve the quality of inspections, and facilitate legitimate travel and commerce at the border.

“TBC thanks both the Senate leadership and the Appropriations Committee for their hard work in producing a pilot project that will help protect the security and economic vitality along the border.”
