Texas abortion bill expected to be filibustered by Senate Democrats
AUSTIN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Debate to place tighter restrictions on abortions is on hold in the Texas Senate, Republicans did not get enough votes to suspend the 24 hour layout rule.
The bill bans abortions on or after 20 weeks of pregnancy and places tighter restrictions on abortion clinics and doctors.
Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. is reportedly the only Democratic Senator in favor of the bill.
Debate could begin in the Senate on Tuesday, it passed in the House on Monday after more than 15 hours of debate.
