Texans asked to vote on new state parks license plate
AUSTIN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Texas Parks and Wildlife Department officials are asking Texans to vote online for the next state park license plate design.
Voting has begun on three plate designs depicting a campfire, nighttime tent scene and hikers on a path.
Texans can vote by visiting www.texasstateparks.org/vote and casting their ballot until August 31st with the winning plate being announced in September and be available in the spring of 2014.
The plate design will cost motorist an additional $30 dollars to their regular vehicle registration fees, of which $22 dollars will go to fund Texas state parks.
The winning plate will be added to other available designed plates which include the horned lizard, bluebonnet, largemouth bass and the white-tailed deer which have raised over $6 million dollars for conservation.
