Teens charged with burglary of motor vehicles

Harlingen police have arrested three teens and a juvenile who were caught with stolen property taken in vehicle burglaries.

In the early morning hours of Thursday, August 22nd police were called in regards to a burglary of a vehicle in the Treasure Hills area.

A witness reported that several young men had fled the area in a white Honda with a black hood.

An officer spotted the vehicle, near Iowa Avenue and Calle Duquesa, and stopped the car on a traffic violation.

The driver and three passengers were identified as Abel Aguilar Jr., 19, Tiddus Lee Alvarez, 17, Homero Garcia Jr., 17, and a 16 year-old juvenile.

During an inventory of the vehicle officers found electronic items, personal identifying information such as driver's licenses, ID cards, bank cards, tools and other miscellaneous items which had been stolen.

Alverez, Garcia Jr. and Abel Aguilar Jr. were charged with three counts of burglary motor vehicle, engaging in organized criminal activity and fraud use possession identifying information with bonds set at $55,000 each.

The 16 year-old was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
