Teen Stabbed with Screwdriver, Left for Dead
SAN BENITO — A quiet San Benito neighborhood is shaken up by an early morning murder. The victim, who was on foot, was allegedly chased down by those responsible, in an SUV, before witnesses say they jumped out and attacked him.
"He was stabbed several times with a screwdriver on his arms, on his chest, his legs, everywhere," describes the victim’s sister.
Nineteen year old cancer survivor Angel Perez was the victim of a deadly aggravated assault early this morning at the intersection of Winchell and Rockefeller.
"We don't know if it was the wrong place at the wrong time, or we just, we don't know, we don't know anything, we know nothing," says the victim’s sister.
While the family mourns the loss of Perez, San Benito Police are working to track down those responsible. Several concerned neighbors saw the early morning attack after coming out of their homes to see what all the noise was about.
Witnesses say they pinned the victim to the fence and repeatedly stabbed him. He then tried to cross the street.
Witnesses describe several men and a woman in an SUV fleeing the scene. The family says Perez was just about one block from his home when he finally collapsed. Emergency personnel arrived, but officials say the victim died just a short time later.
Meantime the family is working on funeral arrangements and hoping to hear back news of arrests in their loved one’s death.
"He was going to school, going to college, 19, had his whole life ahead of him and it was taken from him," says the victim’s sister.
