Teen arrested and charged with theft of a firearm

A Harlingen teen is arrested for theft of a firearm after being linked to the stolen weapon.

On Thursday, April 3rd, police were called to the 2500 block of Shirley Street in reference to a burglary. The victim reported that sometime in the early evening someone had forced their way into his apartment through the rear door and stole four firearms, ammunition and electronic items all totaling over $2,300 dollars.

Through the investigation one firearm, a 9 mm Sig Sauer handgun, was located at an apartment located on the 2600 block of N. 77 Sunshine Strip.

It was determined that a Kevin Alexis Rodriguez was linked to possessing the stole gun and later that same day he turned himself into the Harlingen Police Department.

Rodriguez was arrested and charged with theft of a firearm and handed a bond of $15,000.
