In Cameron county, the Sheriff's Department will now be equipped with automatic license readers.

Five different cameras called ALR's are now in place at the International and Veterans bridge crossings. Three of the ALR's are on squad cars and the cameras are programmed to automatically alert officers who owns the car or if the driver has any warrants for their arrest. The company that installed the cameras are training the officers on how to use it and the cameras should be functional in the next couple of weeks.
