Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville had a groundbreaking ceremony to announce the hospital is adding more surgery operating rooms, but with high definition equipment.
The project won't be seeing the project completed for another 15 month, but once they're done, the project will have four new surgery suites. The interesting part is what will be inside them, They will house state of the art equipment which Valley Baptist Medical Center is committed to do for the next four years of the project.
Chief Executive Officer for Valley Baptist, Leslie Bingham says coming up with the final design was far from easy. There were many changes made, but all for the right reasons. The new and renovated suites will include high definition monitors, new anesthesia machines, and one of the first uses of a new improved operating room lights in the nation.
Director of Surgery for Valley Baptist, Don Dionisi, says expanding the hospital in Brownsville was certainly needed because he has seen an increase of the number of surgeries in Brownsville alone.
The $8 million dollar project should be completed by summer of next year.
