Tanning Mom Pleads Not Guilty
A New Jersey woman arrested after police said she brought her 5-year-old daughter into a tanning booth.
It would be hard for this 44 year old mother of two to deny that she believes in the bronze look.
Patricia Krentcil has been laying under the lights (or in her case, standing) for at least ten years.
The question is, did she subject her 5 year old daughter anna to the UV rays that have turned her own skin a dark shade of nut brown.
Krentcil, in court today to answer those charges, pleaded not guilty.
She's already posted ten percent of her $25,000 bail, and was free to walk, outside the courtroom, her attorney, D.John Caruso, addressed the crush of media that has flocked to this bizarre case like sunworshippers to the sand.
Krentcil is charged with endangeing the welfare of her daughter after Anna went to school one day last month with a sunburn, and said she had been tanning with mommy.
Authorities were called, mommy was arrested.
And the owner of city tropics tanning backs that up, he didn't want to talk on camera but told me his employees told him that the day the little girl came she waited with her dad and little brother outside while krentcil spent about 12 minutes in the booth.
He says if Anna had gone inside, with her fair skin, she would have been badly burned.
Krentcil says her daughter got sunburned that hot day in April just playing outside.
