On January 27, 2013 at approximately 11:20p.m, a group of 3 to 4 males armed with long barrel firearms forced their way into a residence located at 3309 Stites Rd. in the rural Donna, area.

Jesus Leal /D.O.B 12-16-75 and wife Guadalupe Leal/D.O.B 11-26-68 met the armed group in the hallway of their residence.

According to witnesses, one of the gunmen stated “where are you?” the gunman then ordered the couple to the floor and then shot Jesus Leal at least one time in the head.

The gunmen left in a green 2000 model Chevy type suburban. The suburban has a black brush guard.

Jesus Leal was taken to Knapp Medical Center by Family members where he died.

An Autopsy has been ordered.

Sheriff Trevino states, “judging from the suspects actions, it is believed that the gunmen came to the residence specifically seeking Mr. Jesus Leal. There were no demands for drugs, money, or other items. Mr. Leal has one conviction for Possession of Controlled Substance where he served 60 days on a State Jail Felony. Mr. Leal was an illegal alien who was deported in 2010 after his conviction. We are working with several Federal Law Agencies to determine if Mr. Leal has any history with them. Our investigation continues.”
