Suspects Face Judge In Donna Murder

In Hidalgo County -- a judge officially charged two men with the murder of John Rogers from Donna today.
One of the men is John Roger's own son. and deputies believe, he's the gunman.
News Center 23's Kenny Lopez joins us now with the latest.
On Monday, 74-year old, John Rogers was found with a bullet wound to his head at his home on North Val Verde Road.
Shortly after, Investigators caught two of the three suspects,
Today, they went face to face with a judge.
The victim's son, 28-year old, John William Rogers and his friend, 27-year old, George Frederick Sweeney were in Court today for the shooting of the elder Rogers, who ran for Donna Mayor, back in 1999.
Both Rogers and Sweeney asked for a lawyer.
Investigators with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department say, These men, stole jewelery, credit cards, and stole two of the victim's cars, after killing him and then they headed off to Houston.
A Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper pulled over the men, on Highway 59 near Edna, Texas.
Hidalgo County Sheriff Investigators say, the younger Rogers confessed to the robbery and murder.
Authorities say, as DPS took Sweeney and the younger Rogers into custody, a third suspect, driving a second vehicle, owned by the elder Rogers kept on driving.
Here's the man, Investigators are still looking for 30-year old, Bryant Dwayne Riley.
Riley also faces capital murder charges in the case.
Hidalgo County Deputies say both Rogers and Sweeney claim that Riley was involved.
John Francis Rogers' murder is the sixth homicide this year in hidalgo county.
Last year, there were 51.
