Suspects arraigned in shooting death of Border Patrol agent

Two men accused of murdering an off duty Border Patrol agent were arraigned in Willacy County on Tuesday.

Gustavo Tijerina and Ismeal Hernandez Vallejo are charged with capital murder, accused of shooting and killing Border Patrol agent Javier Vega.

Vega was fishing with  his family in Santa Monica when two men allegedly tried to rob them.

The situation escalated and shots were fired among the suspects, Vega, and his father. The family fled the scene and Vega's mother drove to Valley Baptist Medical Hospital.

Vega's father was treated for a hip wound and was released on Tuesday.

A viewing for Vega will be held on Wednesday in La Feria and burial scheduled for Thursday.
