Suspect Wanted for Throwing Spikes at Deputies
The Hidalgo county sheriff's office is on the hunt for one man who they say put their deputy's lives in danger. He allegedly used spikes to try to keep the deputies from chasing him, Josh Navarro has more.
17 year-old Alfredo Sandoval is wanted by Hidalgo county sheriff's department for throwing spikes at their deputies during a car chase diverting them from catching up to Sandoval this past Tuesday and the Sheriff Lupe Trevino is taking this case very seriously. He states that Sandoval has four warrants for his arrest , two that include a felony assault to an officer with a deadly weapon, the Sheriff says Sandoval can be easily identified because he has scratches on his upper body from running through bushes trying to get away from deputies that day.
Sandoval lost nearly a 1,000 pounds of marijuana to the drug cartel or a smuggling organization and it is believed that those organizations are after him. Sheriff Trevino has expressed his concerns about the use of spikes against law enforcement to state representative Arron Pena. The sheriff says there will be legislation introduced by representative Pena next year that will declare spikes as a deadly weapon.
It is believed that Sandoval is still in the U.S. and may be hiding somewhere in Sullivan City or in Starr county. The sheriff is asking for anyone knows the whereabouts of Sandoval or has any information of where these types of spikes are being manufactured to call Hidalgo county Crime Stoppers at 956.668.TIPS.
