Suspect wanted for assaulting San Benito officer arrested

San Benito police have arrested a man wanted for using his vehicle to assault a police officer in a prior incident.

On Thursday, October 24th San Benito investigators, with the assistance from Homeland Security officers, arrested Cresencio Esquivel Lozoya, 35, during a traffic stop on Hutto Road and Expressway 83 in Donna.

Lozoya was wanted in connection to an incident that occurred back on September 11th on the 500 block of McCoullough in which he used a vehicle to assault a San Benito officer.

Lozoya was charged with attempted capital murder, evading arrest in a vehicle, evading arrest on foot, possession of marijuana in a drug free zone and striking a parked vehicle. His bond was set at $135,000 he was taken to the county jail and placed on an immigration detainer.
