Suspect trips, falls and throws beer bottles in failed attempt to steal beer

Harlingen police are investigating the robbery of a Stripes store ending with the suspect throwing beer cans at a store clerk.

On Thursday, May 16, between 10 and 10:30 p.m., a man walked into the Stripes store at 1725 South F Street and removed two 18 packs of Budweiser beer from the cooler section and walked out without paying for the merchandise.

A store employee followed the man outside the store and the suspect began to run and then tripped dropping the cases.

The suspect then grabbed some beer bottles and began throwing them and charging the store clerk striking the employee on the shoulder.

The suspect left the area in a white Honda Civic and is described as being Hispanic, 5'7" in height, 160 lbs., black hair, a blue polo shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
