Suspect arrested in burglary of Chop Stixx restaurant

Brownsville police arrested a man for burglary after surveillance video captured the vehicle he was driving.

On Tuesday, September 24th around 3 a.m. police responded to an alarm being triggered at the Chop Stixx restaurant located  at 7102 Padre Island Highway.

When officers arrived at the location and found a glass door shattered and no one inside the building.

The restaurant owner arrived and officers were able to view surveillance video of the suspect, what he was wearing and the vehicle he used.

Officers recognized the vehicle because it was parked at the Gordon's Bait and Tackle Shop next door to the restaurant. They were able to positively identify the suspect as Jose Carranza Jr., 36, and he was arrested and charged with burglary of a building.
