You’d think those who went through Dolly last year would be better prepared for this hurricane season which begins in just one week, but one survey reports otherwise.
In a survey conducted by CPL Retail Energy, more than 60% of Texas Gulf Coast residents say they don't believe they're well prepared. 40% of Cameron County residents say they will not leave until a mandatory evacuation is ordered and 10% said they will stay even if ordered to leave.
Of those surveyed, only 1/3 have written a family disaster plan. More than 60% do not unplug their washer and dryer and about 88% do not remove fuses from their air conditioning systems to prevent damage. About 25% of residents had three days of non-perishable food or a first aid kit on hand.
