Students Help Community on Spring Break

ALAMO - One wall is up, but there are several more to go as students from STC, UTPA and TSTC help a family in need with Habitat for Humanity. These students chose to help their community instead of traveling for spring break. Community leaders said volunteering is becoming a character trait not often displayed by people so young.

"It shows a lot about our community, obviously volunteerism is real important, and they really are sacrificing their time out at the beach or wherever they are going, and they really are expressing an interest right away," said Veronica Villegas, Habitat for Humanity Executive Director.

And the students are all mixed together. It's hard to tell who attends what college or university. Today they are one team, building a home for one family.
