Some Lower Valley students are leaving the classroom to get somehands on education.

In Brownsville, UTBTSC architecture students are helping the non-profit Architecture for Charity group.

The students helped moved pieces of the building and painted the exterior today. it's all part of a longer project to help build a home for a lower income family.

One student said this opportunity combines his interests in architecture and his desire to better the community.

"This is important to me because I want to give back to my community as an individual and as a citizen," said Daniel Mekia, UTB Student.

This is the third trip to this Cameron Park neighborhood these students have made this semester. They will come out and work one more time after Thanksgiving.
