Student who died from allergic reaction to ant bites is laid to rest
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — The funeral for the middle school student who died from a severe allergic reaction to ant bites was held at Corpus Christi Cathedral on Thursday.
Teammates of 13 year-old Cameron Espinosa carried his casket in for the funeral mass as more teammates from all the teams he played with lined the aisles.
Espinosa suffered several ant bites while playing on the field behind Hass Middle School last week. According to the family's attorney, he told the coach about all the bites before he suddenly fell.
He spent several days on life support before his death on Monday. The Corpus Christi ISD superintendent has vowed a full review of all procedures and policies in place concerning the incident.
